Sporting events :

 

Nethrodaya conducts various sporting events for the visually impaired on an annual basis. such as Chess, volley ball and cricket ,, which are held at the State level and South Indian level .Players across the southern states who participate in these events are encouraged by Nethrodaya by reimbursing the too and fro transportation charges and by providing all hospitality such as food, accommodation and high value cash awards for the winners .

State Level Chess Tournament, August 31, 2019

Nethrodaya hosted the State Level Chess Tournament affiliated to The All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) for the visually impaired Students with immense pride on August 31, 2019. This tournament saw a fierce battle between more than hundred of visually impaired chess players hailing from various districts of Tamil Nadu.
The Chess boards and Coins were specially designed for the visually impaired Chess players. With world class arbitrators, the norms and regulations were same as other standard sighted chess tournaments. Hon'ble Justice of Madras High Court, Thiru. N.Anand Venkatesh was the esteemed Chief Guest for the Inauguration 
Ceremony .The Valedictory Function was presided over by Hon'ble Minister of Tamil Language, Tamil Culture and Archeology, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru K.Pandiarajan, who gave away the trophies to the winners , Certificates of Participation and also prizes worth 50,000/-. As our special invitee, India`s first Women Grandmaster (WGM) Thirumathi. Vijayalakshmi graced the occasion and empowered the visually impaired children on what Champions are made of. Mr.Sabariraj from Erode and Master. Bipin from Chennai won the trophies and prize money for the first prize and second prize respectively.
