Reading Centre
At Nethrodaya, we believe the warmth of a human voice can never be replaced by machines. Our Reading Centre is powered by compassionate volunteers who read textbooks, record study materials, and serve as scribes for visually impaired students during exams.
More than just readers, they become mentors and a bridge to the outside world—playing a vital role in the students’ academic success and overall development.
Digital Audio and Braille Library
Nethrodaya’s Library is a leading resource for the visually impaired, featuring a vast collection of audio and Braille materials—from school and college textbooks to exam guides and motivational books. It has empowered thousands of students across Tamil Nadu in their academic journey.

Outing Programs
Entertainment and recreation are essential for persons with disabilities. Our guided tour trips help them overcome inhibitions, explore new environments, and enjoy activities like boating and trekking. These memorable experiences boost confidence and create lasting joy.
Promotion of Sports
Nethrodaya proudly hosts an annual Chess Competition that draws around 200 visually impaired players from across the southern states of India. Adapted for the visually challenged, the tournament is conducted on a Swiss League basis in strict adherence to FIDE and International Braille Chess Association (IBCA) standards.
This championship is not just a test of strategy and skill—it’s a platform for participants to showcase their talent, build confidence, foster sportsmanship, and inspire others to overcome challenges and strive for excellence.

Fitness Centre
At Nethrodaya, we recognize that physical fitness is vital—especially for the differently abled. Our fully equipped, high-tech fitness centre enables students to engage in daily warmups, exercises, and bodybuilding for a healthier, stronger life.
Park
Our inclusive park offers differently-abled individuals a chance to enjoy outdoor activities designed to promote fun, community spirit, and well-being. Beyond play, students benefit from fresh air and essential vitamin D, supporting their overall health.

Auditorium
Nethrodaya’s fully accessible auditorium, featuring tactile flooring and ramps for orthopedic students, seats up to 300 people. It serves as a versatile venue for conducting marriages for the Disabled, seminars, workshops, conferences, and events, catering specifically to the differently-abled community in Tamil Nadu.
Computer Lab
Nethrodaya’s state-of-the-art computer lab, equipped with screen readers, braille printers, and free internet access, is the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu. It trains visually impaired students in Microsoft Office, internet use, and email, enabling them to compete on equal footing with sighted peers. Thousands have graduated with strong digital skills and secured well-paying IT jobs, showcasing the success of our training programs.

Yoga Classes
Nethrodaya offers yoga classes led by a qualified instructor to enhance the mental and physical well-being of its students.
Music and instruments
Recognizing the rich musical heritage of visually challenged artists, Nethrodaya nurtures student talent with training in vocals and instruments to boost employability and self-reliance. We also host an annual South Indian Level Singing Competition.
